Use

Singulair is the first asthma controller medication in over a decade indicated for use in children as young as 2 years. Singulair is a new type of medication for the prevention and long-term treatment of asthma. Singulair is steroid-free and offers the convenience of a once-daily tablet.

How It Works

Montelukast or Singulair is able to block leukotriene action in the lung resulting in less constriction of the bronchial tissue and less inflammation. Its activity translates into fewer asthma attacks and fewer asthma medications.

Side Effects

Montelukast or Singulair is generally well tolerated. It can be taken with or without food, and a once daily, usually in the evening.

Cautions

Children as well as elderly people tolerate Montelukast or Singulair well, although a dosage adjustment may be required.

Drug Interactions

Montelukast or Singulair can be given in combination with other asthma medications, and it does not interact with warfarin or theophylline.
